Company Overview

Digital Media Group is China’s leading operator of digital media within subway transport systems. Digital Media Group delivers high quality entertainment, information, and advertising, as well as its proprietary Passenger Information System (PIS) to over 15.5 million passengers a day. Its vast network of 34,152 digital screens across 31 subway / high speed train lines, including Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Nanjing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Tianjin. In February 2009, Digital Media Group signed the biggest DOOH contract in China with Shanghai Metro TV. Winning this contract gave Digital Media Group the exclusive right to operate digital advertising (in trains and station platforms) for all 13 lines in the Shanghai Metro system for the next five years. Shanghai’s subway audience is currently about 4.3 million passengers per day, and is expected to grow to 9 million by 2013—an annual passenger flow of almost 3.3 billion people.
In addition to all 13 lines in Shanghai, Digital Media Group operates Beijing Lines 1 and 2 which provide access to China’s richest cultural districts, including Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, as well as major business and financial districts. Digital Media Group will also operate Beijing Line 4 for the next ten years starting in October 2009. Digital Media Group is headquartered in Shanghai, with its main R&D operations based in Beijing. Digital Media Group group companies include Beijing Eastlong Technology Development Company Limited, Beijing Eastlong Advertising Company Limited, Digital Media Group Advertising (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. and six other Digital Media Group operating subsidiaries.

Our Technical Edge

Digital Media Group has invested years of R&D to develop and refine its patented Passenger Information System (PIS), which was first introduced in Shanghai in 2002. Digital Media Group’s PIS utilizes various proprietary technologies to integrate multiple information sources and to deploy artificial intelligence that enables the automatic adjustment of train schedules. In order to ensure the accurate transmission of subway traffic information, Digital Media Group’s system has undergone and withstood the most rigorous testing procedures. To date, it has achieved a spotless record during its many years of operation in various cities across China. Digital Media Group maintains a highly experienced engineering team to assist subway authorities with the implementation of various multimedia communication systems in the cities of Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Shanghai, and Tianjin.

Pioneering Entertainment

In 2007, Digital Media Group demonstrated its continued commitment to innovative entertainment by producing and airing the world’s first-ever “subopera”, <A Sunny Day>,in Shanghai’s subway. This successful subway soap opera, which featured Chinese actress Liao Junjia and Chinese actor Huang Xiaoming, was sponsored by Starbucks. Blogs and websites were integrated with the subopera which increased the popularity of this drama. Following the success of the first subopera, Digital Media Group aired <Dancing Without You>, which was sponsored by Nine West and featured Vivian Hsu. Right on the heels of the much acclaimed <Dancing Without You>, is the latest media drama by Digital Media Group , <A Starry Night>, featuring Fan Zhiwei and Kelly Poon. It started airing in the subways on July 27, 2009 and became a hit right away.
